Activities: Seminar “Understanding Feminism”.
The English association got off to a flying start on 18th December 2014. A contest was conducted in connection with the inauguration for providing a suitable name to the association. Aswathy .S of the second year suggested the title “Agalia” which was chosen as the best title. The association was inaugurated by Dr. K.Sujatha , Former Board of Studies Member, M.G. University, Kottayam and former Head of the Department of English. Later in the day a seminar was conducted on the topic “Understanding Feminism”. It was a very useful seminar from the perspective of the students as it provided them with the fundamentals of this movement. The evolution of feminism and the growth of this movement and its basic characteristics were touched upon in the seminar.

Achievements:-

Students of the Department took part in various inter-collegiate and intra-collegiate competitions. Uma Devu of second year Participated in the inter-collegiate elocution competition held at Assumption college changanasserry. Shalu S. Pillai of the same class teamed up with Abhijith of second year zoology class and participated in the quiz competition held at Assumption College, Changanasserry. The students actively participated in the book reviews conducted by the department. Discussions on films and film reviews were taken up actively by the department in general and as part of their curriculum as well.
The Department hopes to conduct more effective programmes in the days ahead.

Wings of Memories: A Tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The English Department has organized a photo exhibition entitled ’Wings of Memories: A Tribute to Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’, to commemorate the veteran, former President of India, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, in connection with the inaugural ceremony of English Association, Esperanza 2015. Dr. Arul B. Krishna inaugurated the function. It was a novel experience for the students of Pampa College to get to know the various facets in the life of the President. The exhibition covers around 200 rare pictures of the different stages in the life of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. Kalam’s interesting quotations were also exhibited artistically by the students.

Report On Esperanza 2015

The English Association, ‘Esperanza’ was formally inaugurated on 12th Auguest 2015 by Dr. Arul B. Krishna IPS (Asst Supt of Police, Chengannoor). College Principal Dr. P. P. Chandrasekhara Pillai, Presided over the function. Smt. Sunrima K. V., (Asst Prof, Co ordinator) welcomed the gathering. Dr. V. Prakash, (HOD, Dept of Economics, IQAC Co ordinator), Smt Parvathy, (Asst Prof) Umadevi (III DC Rep), Athira S Kumar (II DC Rep), Arya P. L. (I DC Rep) offered felicitations. Dr. Arul B Krishna made an informative and inspiring speech on the relevance of English in the present world. Soji Mariam Sabu, (Student Convenor, Esperanza) proposed the vote of thanks.
